Top contender of the Benue House of Assembly Speakership, Rt. Hon. Dominic Terkaa Ucha yesterday announced his withdrawal from the race in support of the incumbent Speaker, Engr. Titus Uba.

Rt Hon. Ucha stated this yesterday while speaking to newsmen at his Makurdi residence, that he decided to willingly forfeit his candidature to Titus Uba on account of peace and brotherhood.

He described Rt. Hon. Uba as senior legislator with experience who could do more if given a chance to continue as a Speaker in the 9th Assembly.

Ucha appreciated party leaders, community and opinion moulders, the traditional institutions, Christian community, market men and women, student bodies as well as individuals for their various support towards his aspirations.

He said he was humbled and overwhelmed by the display of affection and solidarity to his aspiration saying he deeply cherishes the enthusiasm of the people of the state who had wished him in the leadership of the house.

Ucha submitted that while his desire in seeking for Speakership was borne out of the spirit to offer effective representation, quality legislation and lobby for executive patronage for the 30 state constituencies, he has absolute faith in the ability of his elder brother, Titus Uba, who is also experienced as himself to do a fantastic job as Speaker, Benue State House of Assembly.
