Benue State in the news: Ten things happening in Benue this Friday

Good morning! Here are ten things trending in Benue this Friday morning.

1. Making major headlines this Friday morning is the disposal of over 120 staff of former senate president, now a floor member of the national assembly, Mr. David Mark. 
Mark, a retired sodier also fired his son, Babatunde and younger brother, Igoche after his party was defeated in the last general elections.

2. Yemisi Gabriel Suswam, wife of the former Benue State governor, has been accuse of robbing the state’s liaison office in Abuja, carting away over N100m.

She had since fled to the United State with her husband who left over N90bn for his successor, Ortom.

3. Former education minister, Jerry Agada has told anybody who cares to listen that he’s not in his country home, Orokam tapping palm wine.

A fan had recently posted on Facebook, asking of the whereabouts of Agada, wondering if he had gone to his country home to tap palm wine.
In an interview with Vanguard, the Orokam-born politician said he will never defect to the PDP. Recall that former senate president, David Mark had also affirmed that he will be the last man standing in the former ruling party. 
Agada, who once led the National Association of Nigerian Authors, in 2007 gunned for the Benue State gubernatorial seat but lost the ticket to the eventual winner, Gabriel Suswam whose tenure came to an end last month. 

4. The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) in Benue State has nabbed a total of 148 suspects in connection with illicit drugs.

State Commander of NDLEA, Florence Ezeonye, during a press conference held in Makurdi, as part of activities to mark the 2015 International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking,  said Indian hemp seized weighed 1, 223. 329kg while 48.2kg of psychotropic substances were seized.
She said the agency secured 61 convicts out of which 57 are male suspects.
5. The crisis at the Benue State House of Assembly continued on Thursday as the Speaker, Mr Terkimbi Kyange, walked out Channels Television’s crew from the chamber.
The TV station had captured the messy fight between two lawmakers at the state’s assembly the previous day.
6. Latest report has it that the annual Mark ‘D Ball basket ball competition in Otukpo, Benue State might not hold this year.
According to report, the competition might be put on hold for now following the fall out of the Peoples Democratic Party in the last general elections.
7. Following the inability of some states to pay civil servants’ salaries, the National Secretary of the Labour Party, Kayode Ajulo, has called on the Federal Government to take over the administration of such states.

The party named Osun and Benue as top states currently owing their workers more than seven months.

8. Benue State governor, Samuel Ortom has stirred controversies after forwarding a list of 13 commissioner nominees to the State House of Assembly for screening and confirmation as members of the state executive council.
9. In entertainment, Ace Idoma gospel music legend and head-honcho of Idoma Christian Gospel Singers, Evag. Peter Otulu is about to set another record in the Nigerian music industry.

Otulu is ready to drop his 74th studio album, IDOMA VOICE has learnt, a feat no musician has attained in Nigeria.
10. The All Progressives Congress senatorial candidate in Benue South, Comrade Dan Onjeh has called on Nigerians not to expect president Muhammadu Buhari to perform magic. Onjeh in a statement issued on Thursday said the president needs time so as to take Nigeria to its desired promised land.
