Benue State University medical students protest withdrawal of classmates, campus issues

Medical students from Benue State University have staged a protest and taken control of the government house to voice their grievances, which include the arbitrary withdrawal of their classmates, inadequate access to water, and overcrowding with up to five students crammed into a single room instead of the designated two.

The President of the medical student body, Imenger Charles, conveyed these concerns during discussions with Governor Hyacinth Alia, who had delegated his Chief of Staff, Mr. Paul Biam, to engage with the protesting students and reach a resolution.

Governor Alia reminded the students of his prompt approval for their long-suspended bond scheme and accreditation, reassuring them of forthcoming plans for the construction of additional hostel facilities.

In response, the Vice Chancellor of Benue State University, Prof. Joseph Iorapuu, confirmed that arrangements are underway for the construction of new hostel accommodations. He also appealed to the protesting medical students to return to their academic pursuits and allow for timely resolution of their issues.
