The Vice Chancellor Benue State University, Prof. kembe said the University has complied with Governor Samuel Ortom’s directive that those who were recently employed by Benue State University be paid before the end of July this year.
The VC disclosed this while playing host to the Commissioner for Education, Prof. Dennis

Dennis A. Ityavyar

who visited the university to inspect the sanitary level of the institution. He said though they couldn’t pay the said staff before July 31st because of the public holiday and other office procedures, the university ensured that all the staff were paid on the 3rd of August.

Prof.

Kembe

said the sanitary state of the university environment which looked bad few days ago was as a result of the outbreak of Covid-19 pandemic that affected management staff and forced the school to be shutdown for five weeks, explaining that when the school was partially opened, grass clearing commenced and was ongoing even at the time of this report.

He commended Governor Ortom for his untiring support to the university community and pledged to remain supportive to the present administration.
Earlier, Prof. Ityavyar presented Governor Ortom’s condolence message to the University Management over the death of Prof. Achinge, Deputy Vice Chancellor Administration who died of Covid-19 complications. He submitted that, even though he was at the university to inspect their preparedness towards a possible resumption, it was incumbent on him to deliver the Governor’s comforting message to the late academic.
