Benue State University student walks 62 kilometers to honour lecturer

Ende Terkuma Dominic, a 200-level Mass Communication student at Benue State University (BSU), Makurdi, embarked on an extraordinary journey, walking over 62 kilometers on foot from Tarka Local Government Area to the BSU campus in Makurdi. This remarkable trek was undertaken as a sign of respect and admiration for his lecturer, John Otor Ogi, who welcomed him warmly upon his arrival at the department complex.

Dominic expressed profound respect and gratitude towards Mr. John Ogi, describing him as not only a lecturer but also a role model and a person with great compassion and sympathy for humanity. He emphasized that his journey was not motivated by material gain or endorsements but was a genuine expression of admiration and respect for Ogi.

He stated, “I want to tell all of us here that it’s nice to appreciate people’s kind gesture when there is a need. John Ogi is a man I call my lecturer, my father, my role model, and a man I want to be like when I grow up.”

In response, John Ogi acknowledged the gesture with humility and promised to sponsor all five of Dominic’s unpublished manuscripts as he is also a writer. Ogi further encouraged Dominic to focus on his academic success, assuring him that he would not receive preferential treatment in class.

Additionally, Ogi pledged to take Dominic on a vacation over the weekend, expressing his gratitude for the student’s heartfelt display of respect and admiration.
