Benue SUBEB delegation have arrived Indonesia to participate in a bilateral international debate competition with Indonesia organized for basic education learners under the auspices of the President School Debate Nigeria ( PSDN).
The SUBEB team led by the Executive Chairman Dr. Grace D. Adagba arrived Jakarta, the capital city of Indonesia on the night of Sunday 5th May after a 22 hour flight from Abuja.
Activities drawn up for the debate competition would commence from Monday 6th to Saturday 11th May,2024.
The aim of the competition is to expose the learners and provide essential skills to them. According to the National Coordinator Presidents’ School Debate Nigeria Mr. Oritu Dare, “the competition is organized to help pupils express their points of view on selected topics, it also helps them to listen to the views of others and think critically”.
Benue came second at the national level of the competition held in November 2023 at Abuja. Kwara State had emerged first while Taraba came third. The 3 top teams are representing Nigeria in the debate competition at the international level.
The SUBEB boss in her remarks said her presence was to give the participants the desired moral and leadership support that would motivate them to victory.
Recall that in the history of Benue SUBEB this is the first time an Executive Chairperson has attended a debate competition in person.
