Benue: Suspected robbers break into Church, steal equipment worth millions
Suspected armed robbers reportedly struck in the early hours of Christmas Eve, breaking into Tabernacle Ministry International Church situated at Tomato, GRA, Gboko, and carting away valuables estimated to be worth several millions of naira.
A church member, who gave his name simply as Jack, disclosed to our correspondent on Thursday that the assailants infiltrated the church premises during the early hours of Wednesday.
Confirming the incident in a telephone conversation on Thursday, the General Overseer of the ministry, Pastor Gloria Mwuese Akade, said the burglary took place shortly after activities held at the church the previous night.
Pastor Akade explained, “We had a carol service on Tuesday night and closed around 8 p.m., but early the next morning, we discovered that some thieves had broken into our church, possibly in the early hours of Wednesday, 24th December 2025.
“On arriving at the church, we discovered that the thieves had gained access after destroying the iron door before making away with church items.”
According to her, items stolen during the break-in included speakers, a mixer/amplifier, chargers, microphones, and several other equipment, all valued at millions of naira.
She further revealed that the matter was reported to members of the Civil Protection Guard in Gboko, adding that the church leadership is awaiting further action.
