Tears flowed freely on Friday as victims of the Igama massacre in Edumoga Ehaje, Okpokwu LGA of Benue State were laid to rest.
IDOMA VOICE reports that gunmen suspected to be Fulani herdsmen had attacked Igama, a rural community in Benue State on Sunday morning, killing 37 residents of the community.
The gunmen reportedly stormed the community on Sunday, around 4am and opened fire on the residents of the community.
Igama, an agrarian community, located in Okpokwu Local Government area, is 160 kilometres from Makurdi, the Benue State capital.
The victims were given a mass mass and buried in their various homes on Friday.
The Senator representing Benue South, Abba Moro, who was at the burial, described the attack as unfortunate.
