Benue: Terrorists’ strongholds reduced from 13 to 3 LGAs — Gov’s Aide Kula
Tersoo Kula, Special Adviser on Media and Chief Press Secretary to Governor Hyacinth Alia of Benue State, has revealed that the number of local government areas under terrorist influence in the state has been reduced from 13 to about three.
Kula made the disclosure on Monday during an interview with Arise Television.
He credited the success to the combined efforts of President Bola Tinubu, the Benue State government, and security agencies.
“First of all, I will tell you that where you have security challenges, the people’s livelihood is actually distorted and the governor himself has said this over and over.
“When you begin to weaponise the misfortunes of the people to gain undue advantage of cheap popularity, then there is need to question.
“You cannot because some local governments are affected, which is agreed, generalize that every local government is affected. When we came in, about 17 out of the 23 Local Government Areas were badly affected by this unfortunate development.
“However, with the efforts of what the governor is doing and with the collaboration of Mr President, we have been able to drastically reduce the areas controlled by terrorists.
“While we still need assistance in flushing these criminals out of the remaining areas, it is crucial for people to stick to the facts and not try to take undue advantage of the system,” he said.
