Kwande Intermediary Area has secured resounding backing for its 2027 Benue State governorship bid, following a wave of endorsements from political leaders and key Tiv intermediate blocs. The declaration came on Friday, November 14, 2027, during a high-powered briefing in Ushongo Town, where the 84-member Kwande 2027 Inter-Party Governorship Advocacy Committee presented its comprehensive consultation report.

The event drew prominent political stakeholders, delegations from across Tiv land, and influential sons and daughters committed to advancing the Kwande governorship agenda.

Committee leaders Elder Atsaga Anemba of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and Barr. Vincent Uji, All Progressives Congress (APC) Zonal Chairman for Zone A, highlighted their extensive consultation tour. Their engagements began with the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Sen. George Akume, and former Governor Samuel Ortom, before extending to Sankera, Jemgbagh, Gwer, and Lobi.

The Advocacy Committee urged all qualified Kwande sons to declare their intentions, expressing confidence that the 2027 governorship quest rests on a strong foundation and the area’s track record of contributions to Benue’s development.

Hon. Terseer Ugbor, Member representing Kwande/Ushongo Federal Constituency, received a unanimous vote of confidence from constituents and reaffirmed his commitment to people-driven leadership while hinting at an upcoming declaration after due consultations.

Former Chief of Staff, Hon. Terwase Orbunde, renewed his appeal for support in his continued pursuit of the governorship mandate.

Also represented at the gathering was the Executive Secretary of the Nigeria Shippers Council, Dr. Pius Akutah, who solicited support for his governorship ambition while pledging to back any Kwande candidate. Similarly, Engr. Nick Wende of the NDDC Board sent his solidarity and apologies for absence, alongside former Attorney-General of the Federation, Chief Michael Aondoakaa.

The meeting ended with a collective pledge of unity: whichever qualified son of Kwande emerges as a governorship candidate—regardless of political party—will enjoy the full support of the Kwande people.

Convener of the Movement for the Actualization of Kwande Governorship Agenda (MAKGA), Mr. Tervershima Ikyem, expressed gratitude for the widespread endorsements and vowed to intensify advocacy until Kwande produces the next Governor of Benue State.
