Benue: Troops foil kidnap, rescue three victims after gun battle
Troops attached to Sector 1 of Operation Whirl Stroke (OPWS) have successfully thwarted a kidnap operation and rescued three people abducted by suspected terrorists in Katsina-Ala Local Government Area of Benue State.
According to Zagazola Makama, the operation took place around 4:30 p.m. on July 13 after soldiers at the SAI Outpost received intelligence about an active kidnapping in Sai community.
Security sources disclosed that the troops quickly moved to the location and engaged the fleeing gunmen in a fierce gun duel.
The attackers reportedly retreated after being overpowered by the troops’ superior firepower, abandoning the three captives before escaping into nearby bushes.
The victims were later profiled by security personnel before being reunited with their families.
Meanwhile, troops have intensified efforts to track down the fleeing suspects as Operation Whirl Stroke continues its offensive against criminal groups operating across Benue State.
