Benue: Ugwu Odoh assures prompt payment of salaries for sweepers

Makurdi, September 11, 2023 – Hon. Odoh Ugwu, the Commissioner for Water Resources, Environment, and Climate Change, has reassured the sweepers working at the Commission, who are casual staff of the Ministry, of prompt payment of their monthly salaries. He made this commitment while addressing the sweepers who had come to register their concerns and challenges with the ministry.

The leader of the sweepers, Mrs. Bridget Agedar, expressed their congratulations to Hon. Odoh Ugwu on his appointment as Commissioner for Water Resources, Environment, and Climate Change. Additionally, she highlighted the issue of unpaid salaries owed to them by the previous government. Mrs. Bridget also pledged the unwavering support of the sweepers to the Commissioner, promising to provide him with the necessary cooperation he requires to succeed in his role.

In response, Commissioner Ugwu assured the sweepers that their welfare and well-being were top priorities for him. He pledged to create a conducive environment for them to carry out their duties effectively by providing the essential tools, equipment, and support they need. He emphasized the invaluable role they play in maintaining a clean and healthy environment for the residents of Makurdi metropolis.

Commissioner Ugwu acknowledged the sweepers’ concerns and expressed his firm commitment to addressing them promptly. He underscored the significance of their work and promised to urgently inform the Governor about their current situation.
