Benue State University Makurdi, management of Benue State Polytechnic Ugbokolo and the Ushongo Local Government Traditional Council have congratulated Governor Samuel Ortom on his reelection by people of the state.
Acting Registrar of the university, Mrs. Catherine Bur on behalf of the Vice Chancellor, Professor Msugh Kembe, staff and students of the institution described the Governor’s reelection as “an attestation of an enviable public statement and recognition of your enormous developmental strides amidst daunting challenges.”
The statement acknowledged the pride, tenacity and vigour with which the Governor defended his people in the face of unprovoked attacks on the state which forced many to take refuge in Internally Displaced Persons, IDPs camps.
Chairman Governing Council of the University, Professor Zacharys Gundu, in a statement also thanked God for the Governor’s well deserved victory, stressing that it underscored the people’s collective resolve to resist slavery, mental and physical torture in the state and beyond.
Rector of the Benue State Polytechnic Ugbokolo, Dr. Usman Kuti in a statement on behalf of the chairman and members of the Governing Council as well as management and staff of the institution, described the Governor’s victory as a testimony of his doggedness, enthusiasm as an indisputable defender of the Benue Valley.
He pledged the support of the Polytechnic to the administration of the Governor which he expressed the hope would be more pragmatic, proactive and resourceful.
His Royal Highness, Ter Ushongo, Chief Augustine Kwaghtse Kuma on behalf of the entire Ushongo Traditional Council, expressed belief that the Governor’s first term experience would be brought to bear on his second term with renewed zeal.
The institutions all prayed God to grant the Governor good health of mind and body as he embarks on the onerous task of taking the state to enviable heights.
