Benue vs Ebonyi border crisis: Sheath your swords, allow peace to reign – Ortom urges warring communities

Governor Samuel Ortom has appealed to people of Agila in Ado, Benue and those of Mgbo in Ebonyi State to sheathe their sword and allow peace to reign in their domains.

Governor Ortom’s appeal is coming on the heels of fresh crisis between people of Benue and their Ebonyi State counterpart at the Agila and Mgbo borders in which nine persons from Benue were reportedly missing.

Speaking to newsmen Saturday, shortly on arrival at the Makurdi Airport from Abuja, Governor Ortom said the crisis between the two communities of Ado in Benue and those from Mngbo in Ebonyi had lingered for too long and that it was high time it stopped.

Governor Ortom said it was incumbent on any Benue person residing in Ebonyi to pay allegiance to authorities in the state same way an Ebonyi person resident in Benue state was expected to do.

He explained that such understanding could promote peace, unity and friendship that could guarantee meaningful socio economic and cultural development of the two states.
