Elder statesman and the ‘Spiritual Leader’ of Tiv nation, Paul Unongo, has declared that Benue State will continue to fail unless an Idoma man becomes the state governor.
The former President of Northern Elders Forum recalled that when he contested for Governor many years back, he had wanted to serve for one term and hand over to the late Osonyeta K’Idoma, Dr. Edwin Obeh Idoko.
He, however, said that dream did not come to pass because he lost the election in 1983.
The outspoken elder statesman, therefore, called on his Tiv kinsmen to allow an Idoma man become Benue governor in 2023.
“I am looking forward to working for an Idoma man to become Benue State governor,” he said in a recent interview.
He called on them not to forget the Tiv philosophy that says eat and give your brother.
