Rev. Fr. Ejike Mbaka, the spiritual director of the Adoration Ministry, Enugu, Nigeria, conducted a special prayer session for the release of the incarcerated leader of the Indigenous Peoples of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu.

A video of the prayer session was shared on the ministry’s Facebook page titled “I Pray For Our Brother Nnamdi Kanu” on Friday. The footage captured the cleric leading the congregation in prayer during one of his church programmes.

In the impassioned forty-three minutes long video, Rev. Fr. Mbaka fervently prayed to God on behalf of Nnamdi Kanu, seeking divine intervention for his freedom.

“There is nothing you cannot do. You are the specialist in the impossible. Into your hands, we commit Nnamdi Kanu, deliver him, deliver him. Please deliver him, Lord. For the sake of your people, oh Lord, deliver him, Lord. Give him freedom, ransom free. Emancipation. The hand that sets free those in bondage, free him from bondage,” he prayed.

The respected cleric further urged the Lord to heed the pleas of the entire Igbo community and grant Kanu the freedom he rightfully deserves.

Nnamdi Kanu has been in the custody of the Department of State Services (DSS) since June 2021, following his forcible repatriation from Kenya to Nigeria on terrorism charges. Recently, the appellate court ordered his release due to his unlawful repatriation, but the government appealed this decision at the Supreme Court, leading to his continued detention.
