Biafra: Simon Ekpa writes EU, US to impose visa ban on Gov Mba

Simon Ekpa, a prominent Biafran agitator, has written to the European Union and the United States of America, raising concerns about alleged human rights abuses committed by Governor Peter Mbah of Enugu State.

The agitation comes after three individuals were reportedly killed during protests by traders who took to the streets in reaction to the state government’s decision to seal their shops for not opening on Monday.

In his letter, Ekpa urged the EU and the US to impose a visa ban on Governor Mbah, citing his violation of citizens’ fundamental human rights. He accused the Enugu State government of confiscating and arresting Igbo people without adhering to the constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

“We wish to bring to your notice the gross violation and fundamental human rights abuses of the people of Enugu State, in Southeast Nigeria by Peter Mbah, the governor of Enugu State,” Ekpa wrote.

He further expressed concern that Governor Mbah’s actions denied the people of Enugu State their right to personal property and free enterprise, contravening internationally recognized charters, treaties, and conventions.

In addition to seeking the visa ban, Ekpa called on Biafra traders in Enugu to continue their business operations. He requested that they provide details of those injured and killed during the protests for immediate medical intervention.

“We call on Biafra traders in Enugu to make available, send the details of all injured traders and those that lost their lives during the protest; their loved ones and their families should send contact details for immediate intervention by the government of Biafra,” Ekpa announced.

He also appealed to fellow Biafrans to open their shops and businesses and to share any relevant information about those responsible for the violence and the closure of their shops.
