Biafra: Sit-at-home finally ends in South-East

This order had significant economic and social impacts on the South-East region, leading to the loss of lives and property. However, General Lagbaja, speaking at the COAS combined second and third quarters conference in Abuja, credited the efforts of the Nigerian Army and collaboration with relevant stakeholders for putting an end to the sit-at-home order. He noted that law-abiding citizens in the region have resumed their daily activities, indicating an improvement in the situation.

General Lagbaja also highlighted the successes in tackling other security challenges in the country, including the curtailment of Boko Haram and terrorist activities in the North East, leading to the surrender of members of these groups and the recovery of a significant cache of arms and ammunition.

He mentioned the establishment of Special Forces units to address various criminalities across Nigeria and emphasized the importance of maintaining and optimizing the use of advanced equipment and platforms.

Furthermore, General Lagbaja expressed his commitment to prioritizing the welfare of troops and their families, including providing suitable living quarters and launching an “Affordable Home Ownership Option for All Soldiers Scheme” to offer affordable and high-quality post-service housing for soldiers.
