Deji Adeyanju, a prominent political activist, has hinted that the Presidential Election Petition Tribunal may not invalidate the nomination of Labour Party’s (LP) Presidential candidate, Peter Obi. Adeyanju also speculated on the potential scenarios for Vice President Kashim Shettima’s double nomination and raised the possibility of President Bola Tinubu’s candidacy being invalidated.
In a tweet shared on Monday, Adeyanju expressed his anticipation that the Presidential Election Petition Tribunal might rule to invalidate Peter Obi’s nomination by the LP. This, he suggested, would be in line with provisions outlined in the Electoral Act (EA) concerning membership registers.
Drawing attention to another case, Adeyanju pointed out the double nomination of Kashim Shettima and implied that the tribunal might not take a similar stance on this matter.
Furthermore, Adeyanju brought up the prospect of President Bola Tinubu’s candidacy being invalidated due to double nomination.
He stated: “Will be extremely surprised if the Presidential Election Petition Tribunal does not invalidate the nomination of Peter Obi by LP in line with the provisions of the EA on membership register. The Double nomination of Shettima is also enough to invalidate Tinubu’s candidacy.”
