Billionaire businessman Ochacho joins APC in Benue, promises Tinubu bloc votes in 2027
…Tension Hits PDP, ADC, Others’ Camps in Benue
Leaders and stakeholders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Otukpo Local Government Area of Benue State on Thursday formally welcomed businessman and philanthropist, King Adah Mohamed Usman, popularly known as Ochacho, into the ruling party.
The high-profile reception, held at Ochacho’s residence in Otukpo, attracted key APC figures, including the Executive Chairman of Otukpo Local Government Council, Hon. Prince Maxwell Ogiri, who led party stalwarts to receive the new entrant, IDOMA VOICE reports.
Ochacho was ushered into the APC by his younger brother, Hon. Alex Enokela Ogbe, the 2023 Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) House of Representatives candidate for Otukpo/Ohimini Federal Constituency, who had earlier defected to the ruling party.
Political Ripples in Benue
Ochacho’s defection is already generating political tension across party lines in Benue South, particularly within the PDP and ADC, where his grassroots structure and influence were considered significant.
Observers say the development may reshape political alignments in Otukpo and its environs ahead of the 2027 general elections.
APC Hails “Major Gain”
Speaking during the event, Council Chairman Ogiri described Ochacho’s entry into the APC as a major boost for the party in Otukpo and the state at large.
According to him, the party remains open to progressive-minded individuals willing to contribute to Benue’s development, unity, and stability.
“Ochacho’s decision reflects growing confidence in the leadership and direction of the APC,” Ogiri said, assuring all members of fairness and equal opportunities within the party.

He also commended Ogbe for leading his brother into the ruling party.
Ochacho Speaks
In his remarks, Ochacho said his decision to join the APC was driven by his desire to align with a political platform capable of delivering tangible development to the people.
He emphasized his commitment to youth empowerment, infrastructure development, and community-focused policies.
“I believe this platform provides better opportunities to serve the people and contribute meaningfully to development,” he stated.
Ogbe Reveals Tinubu-Linked Appointment
Highlighting broader political momentum, Hon. Alex Ogbe disclosed that he had been appointed State Coordinator (Benue) of the City Boys Movement by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
According to him, the youth-focused initiative aims to mobilize and empower young Nigerians across all 36 states.
“Our goal is unity in Benue and addressing pressing challenges like insecurity,” Ogbe said.
He added that the movement would build grassroots structures, amplify youth voices, and strengthen community engagement.
2027 Calculations Begin
Ahead of the 2027 elections, President Tinubu has intensified efforts to consolidate youth and elite support nationwide through the City Boys Movement.
Several notable figures, including Obi Cubana, Cubana Chief Priest, Zenco, Yul Edochie, Zack Orji, and Seyi Law, have publicly declared support for the President.
Political analysts say Ochacho’s entry into the APC may further strengthen the party’s structure in Benue South as early permutations for 2027 gather momentum.
