Chukwudumeme Onwuamadike, popularly known as Evans, the convicted billionaire kidnapper facing charges of attempted murder, has approached the Lagos State High Court in Ikeja seeking a settlement.
Accompanied by his co-defendant Joseph Emeka, who is facing charges of murder and attempted kidnapping, Evans has chosen to pursue a plea bargain.
During a court session presided over by Justice Adenike Coker, the state prosecution counsel, Mr. Yusuf Sule, disclosed the option of a plea bargain to the court on Thursday.
Evans and his co-defendant are set to be re-arraigned on an amended indictment comprising five counts related to murder, attempted murder, and conspiracy to commit kidnapping and murder.
Sule clarified to the court that while the purpose of the session was re-arraignment, he was aware of the defendants’ application for a plea bargain.
He further stated that the terms of the plea bargain are currently under review by the Attorney-General of Lagos State, Mr. Lawal Pedro (SAN).
