Pa. Michael Agbo Idibia was born on July 25, 1946 to Mr. and Mrs. Idibia Ije of Amufu Aijeba, in Edumoga District, Okpokwu LGA of Benue State.
Second of six children born to Idibia Ije and Mrs. Elaje Idibia, he is also survived by a half sister, Obite Idibia-Aba.
The 4th of Elaje Idibia’s children, Jerome died in April 2002 aged 46 years.
The only girl of his mother and immediate younger to Pa. Michael is Enayi. Among his other siblings are Daniel Ochayi Idibia, immediate elder to Pa. Idibia is based at home in Amufu.
The other males are Jospeh Idibia and a Veterinary Doctor, Dr. Tony Oche Idibia, who is last of the Idibias.
While Mr. Joseph Idibia is of the Federal Ministry of Agriculture, Dr. Idibia is of the State Ministry of Agriculture.
Idibia Ije-the senior Idibia is known for his up rightness in the community.
Pa. Michael Idibia started his primary education in 1954 at St. Anthony Primary School, the then Roman Catholic Mission (RCM) School, at Akpoga; and later proceeded to St. Paul’s Catholic School, Utonkon, where he obtained his first leaving certificate in 1960.
He then proceeded to Benue Provincial School Kastina-Ala in January 1961 to obtain his Secondary School Education and came out in flying colours.
The following year, he was admitted into the School Agriculture, Kabba, where he attended a course of training between 1966 and 1967 and qualified as an Agricultural Assistant.
He went on to study for Diploma in General Agriculture from 1974 to 1975.
Pa. Michael started his career with the ministry of Agriculture in the then Benue Plateau State. He moved to Benue State like of the civil servants with the creation of Benue State in 1976.
He worked in several capacities with the ministry in Benue Plateau, and later Benue State before he left the shores of Nigeria for the United States of America to obtain his first degree from Kanas State University of Agriculture and Applied Science in 1979.
Upon his return to Nigeria, he worked with the Benue State Ministry of Agriculture in various capacities, rising tot the post of Deputy Director.
He was made Zonal Manager, Benue State Agricultural and Rural Development Authority in 1990, a position he held till his retirement from civil service in 1997.
Pa. Michael’s mother Mrs. Elaje Idibia who also impacted greatly on the Idibia children was an embodiment of what virtuous woman should be like.
She died at the age of 102 in 2012.
Pa. Michael became engaged and married former Miss Rose Anebi of Ogege-Edumoga in December 1972.
He is survived by his dear wife of 42 years and four children, grand children, bothers and sisters.
The late Michael was an upright man, kind to a faul, he placed the interest of others over his while on earth.
Other’ problem were his and he would to any extent to sacrifice for others.
He loved his family dearly. He abhors indiscipline and always insists that things must be done correctly.
As a government worker, he was dovoted to his duty; he never liked to cut corners; he wanted things to be done properly as they should be done.
Being a person exposed to the world though the liberal education, which going to the uSa for a university degree attests to, he gave his children liberty to pursue their passion.
Therefore, while most fathers of his generation would frown at their children picking carriers in singing, he didn’t discourage his now famous son, Innocent ‘Tuface’ from pursuing his passion for music.
Stephen, the eldest son had a HND in Fine Arts, Hyacinth, who is 3rd of the four children and immediate junior to 2face, read international relations and currently based in the US.
Oche Charles, the youngest of the Idibia is a graduate of English.
In his secondary school day, he was a senior prefect in his final year. He was also a member of Red Cross Society and Boys Scout.
He enjoyed the games of hockey and basketball.
He slept with the Lord on 23rd August, 2014 after a battle with cancer.
