Bishop Kukuah replies those threatening him to leave Sokoto for allegedly insulting Islam
The Catholic Bishop of Sokoto Diocese, Matthew Hassan Kukah, says he will only apologize to Islam if shown where he insulted the religion.
Recall that the Islamic group, Muslim Solidarity Forum, had earlier threatened the cleric to apologize or leave Sokoto over his controversial Christmas message.
Kukah had said in his sermon that there might have been a coup if a non-nothern Muslim did half of the things President Buhari has done.
Acting Chairman of MSF, Prof Isa Maishanu accused Kukah of trying to break the age-long peaceful coexistence between the predominantly Muslim population and their Christian guests.
The group also asked the Catholic Bishop to “quickly and quietly leave the seat of Caliphate” or immediately stop his “malicious vituperations against Islam and Muslims” and tender unreserved apology to the Muslim Ummah.
Reacting to the threat, the Bishop said he will apologize if only referred to where he insulted Islam or Muslims as alleged by the MSF.
