In a bold move aligning with its prophetic theme for the year, ‘FORTUNE 2024,’ Bishop David Oyedepo of Living Faith Church, popularly known as Winners Chapel, has announced the acquisition of a new, comfortable, and economical business jet.
The Hawker Siddeley 25 900 XP, with registration marking 5N-CCY, is set to enhance the church’s travel capabilities, Church Gist reports.
The Hawker 900XP is renowned for its suitability for mid-range destinations, offering a luxurious flight experience in a spacious cabin accommodating up to 8 passengers. Boasting a maximum cruise speed of 448 knots and a range of 2,572 nm, the jet provides both comfort and economic efficiency for travel.
This isn’t the first time Winners Chapel has ventured into private aviation. The church, often dubbed ‘the Church of the Rich’ by the media, has a history of utilizing aircraft in its missionary endeavors. The acquisition of the new jet follows a trajectory that began in 1982 when Bishop David Oyedepo, then leading a group called ‘Power House,’ prophesied about spreading the gospel globally with the aid of ‘wings.’
The church has since grown exponentially, from 70 members in 1982 to over 22,000 churches in 146 nations worldwide. Over the years, Winners Chapel has acquired and replaced several aircraft, each serving the purpose of advancing their missionary efforts.
The newly acquired jet, the Hawker Siddeley 25 900 XP, has already been spotted in various cities, including Ibadan, Benin City, and Port Harcourt, signaling its active operation.
Bishop Oyedepo, emphasizing the scriptural basis for such acquisitions, stated that in challenging times, only those under the covenant would have comprehensive covering. While addressing potential criticism, the report from Church Gist concludes with a note discouraging insults, mockery, and irrelevant advice, highlighting their focus on sharing positive news throughout the year.
