Bishop T.D. Jakes, leader of The Potter’s House, a prominent megachurch in the United States, experienced a health scare after completing his sermon on Sunday.
As Jakes concluded his message with a prayer, videos circulating on social media showed his movements slowing as he made his way back to his seat.
“The meditations of my heart be acceptable in thy sight, oh Lord,” Jakes prayed, his breaths growing labored. “My strength and my redeemer, let them go in peace,” he continued, with his head bowed and microphone slowly lowering.
Shortly after, his head began to bob back and forth, and his body jerked, prompting church officials to rush to his side to prevent a collapse.
In a statement posted on Facebook, The Potter’s House confirmed that Bishop Jakes received immediate medical care and is currently stable.
“The entire Potter’s House family is grateful for the outpouring of love, prayers, and support from the community. Thank you for your understanding and continued prayers,” the statement said.
The church did not provide further details about whether Jakes was hospitalized or the cause of the incident.
