Blackface accuses Burna Boy, Davido of music plagiarism

Nigerian singer Blackface has alleged that prominent artists such as Burna Boy and Davido have engaged in music plagiarism by using his work as inspiration.

During a recent appearance on a podcast, Blackface claimed that younger Afrobeat musicians have taken his songs and “twisted and turned” them into their own tracks. He suggested that hits like Burna Boy’s “Last Last” heavily draw from his earlier recordings.

Blackface, a former member of the influential 1990s group Plantashun Boiz, has persistently raised concerns about perceived copyright violations of his work since going solo.

In the podcast interview, Blackface contended that he never received due credit for his contributions to the globalization of Afrobeat. Nevertheless, his allegations faced skepticism from the hosts, who questioned the verifiability of the claims.
