Blaming me not solution to development challenges in Benue – Ortom tells Alia, Udende

The former Governor of Benue State, Samuel Ortom, has responded to recent statements made by the Senator representing Benue North East Senatorial District, Emmanuel Udende, and the state Governor, Hyacinth Alia, regarding the security challenges in the state.

Senator Udende had attributed the continued security challenges in Benue to the enforcement of the Open Grazing Prohibition and Ranches Establishment Law during the previous administration. Meanwhile, Governor Alia’s media aide has repeatedly launched unprovoked attacks on Chief Ortom, using derogatory terms to describe the former Governor.

In response, Terver Akase, Media Aide to the former Governor, in statement stated that he will not engage in a media war with the present administration or its aides. He advised the current government and the Senator to focus on fulfilling their promises to the people, as they were elected to serve the citizens of Benue.

Ortom emphasised that consistently blaming the former administration will not solve the state’s problems or bring development. He reminded the current government that they now have the mandate of the people to do better and urged them to concentrate on delivering on their commitments.

The former Governor reaffirmed that he played his part as Governor and has now left the stage. He urged Governor Alia and his team to focus on governance and addressing the challenges facing the state.
