Blasphemy: Deborah’s murder is senseless – UN

The United Nations has demanded justice over the gruesome murder of Deborah Samuel, a student of Shehu Shagari College of Education, Sokoto.

Deborah Samuel was killed for allegedly insulting Prophet Mohammed.

Although two persons have been arrested and remanded in prison custody over the dastardly act, some northern youths believe that their arrest was illegal, bearing in mind that the slain Deborah insult the Holy Prophet.

Reacting, the UN through its Deputy Secretary General, Amina J Mohammed, said there was no justification for the killing of the young lady

She tweeted, “Justice must be done for the senseless, brutal killing of the young, Deborah Samuel in Nigeria.

“Religions should not be misinterpreted to preach violence when they promote peace.

“My prayers are with the family and for the repose of her soul.”
