Boko Haram factional leader, Abubakar Shekau, has released new audio.
In the new audio, the terrorist kingpin threatened a Kaduna-based Islamic scholar, Sheikh Ahmed-Gumi.
Gumi had recently claimed Fulani herders are being used by the Islamic insurgents to kill and kidnap for ransom.
In a 16-minute audio released on Tuesday, a voice claiming to be Shekau denied using Fulani herders or anyone for their nefarious acts and sternly warned the cleric to desist from such accusations.
Shekau also denied the Sheikh’s claim that Boko Haram pays the sum of N30,000 to the Fulani herders from ransom received from the kidnap victims while berating the government for paying employees as low as N10000 monthly salary.
“We don’t engage or employ anybody to kidnap for ransom. We, of course, know that there are some other people who are using our name to perpetrate criminality, but whosoever uses our name to cause mayhem should know that we are not with him.
“Whosoever wants to identify with us whether he is in Kaduna, Lagos, Benin or America, we are willing to also identify with him. Our call is to Allah, not democracy which is anti-Islamic,” Shekau said.
