Borno State Governor, Prof. Babagana Zulum, has rewarded a Doctor, Isa Akinbode, who risked his life to treat casualties after Boko Haram insurgents attacked residents in Monguno, Borno State, with N13.9M and a brand new car.
Governor Zulum, who applauded Dr. Akinbode’s selfless service to humanity, revealed that most residents of Monguno fled the town after the insurgents’ attack but the Doctor remained to render service to all the victims affected by the onslaught.
He noted that Dr Akinbode was once abducted by Boko Haram terrorists but was later set free.
The Governor also gave Dr Akinbode’s daughter an automatic appointment with the Borno State Government and said all his salaries from retirement till date would be paid in arrears.
Dr. Isa Akinbode is an indigene of Ogun state who graduated from the University of Maiduguri and worked with the General Hospital, Mongono as a medical doctor. He retired after 22 years of service due to some health challenges.
