Victor Boniface continued his fine form, scoring the decisive goal as Bayer Leverkusen came from behind to defeat Koln 3-2 after extra time in the DFB-Pokal quarter-finals on Wednesday.

Boniface, who had already scored in Leverkusen’s 3-1 league victory over Hoffenheim on Sunday, came on in the 76th minute and netted the crucial third goal just eight minutes into extra time, completing his side’s dramatic comeback.

Koln had taken a 2-0 lead with goals from Damion Downs in the first half’s added time and Linton Maina in the 54th minute.

However, Patrik Schick responded for Leverkusen in the 61st minute, then levelled the game with a goal in the sixth minute of added time to send the match into extra time.

Boniface’s goal sealed the victory for the defending champions, sending them through to the semi-finals.
