President Bola Tinubu has directed the Armed Forces to review ongoing security operations and boost the deployment of advanced military hardware and surveillance equipment to eliminate terrorist groups nationwide.

The directive follows a recent Boko Haram attack on Darajamal community in Bama Local Government Area of Borno State, which left multiple civilians and soldiers dead.

Vice President Kashim Shettima, in a condolence message on Monday, described the incident as a profound loss to both the state and the nation. He reaffirmed the administration’s commitment to defeating terrorism and ensuring justice for the victims.

“I extend my heartfelt condolences to Governor Babagana Umara Zulum, the people of Borno State, and the Nigerian military over the tragic loss of our compatriots. These deaths have left the entire nation in collective grief, but we are confident that justice will be served,” Shettima said in a statement issued by his spokesman, Stanley Nkwocha.

Governor Zulum had earlier visited the affected community to commiserate with bereaved families and troops impacted by the attack.

Shettima added that the president has approved the acquisition of additional drones and directed all security agencies to intensify and review operational strategies. He also reiterated the federal government’s consideration of establishing state police to address localized security challenges.

The Vice President offered prayers for the victims and pledged continued federal support to Borno and other states grappling with insecurity.
