The lifeless body of a 15-year-old boy, identified as Ekine, who had been reported missing since August 7, 2023, has been discovered in a river near Mgbuodohia village within the Rumuolumeni community, located in the Obio-Akpor Local Government Area of Rivers State.
Reports from Today FM indicate that the young Ekine, a resident of Mile 2 in Diobu, Port Harcourt, had been reported as missing to the local police by his parents.
The lifeless remains were spotted floating in the river by a boat operator, subsequently identified by the parents as their missing son, as confirmed by Channels Television.
Confirming the incident, SP Grace Iringe-Koko, the spokesperson for the Rivers State Police Command, revealed that the boy’s parents displayed no interest in pursuing further investigation into the case, and thus, the teenager has been laid to rest.
