Nollywood actress Queeneth Hilbert has filed a lawsuit against her colleague, Destiny Etiko, and the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Kayode Egbetokun, over an alleged attempt to arrest her.
Hilbert had previously accused Etiko, via a social media video, of snatching her wealthy boyfriend and vowed to confront her if she visited Asaba, Delta State. The feud reportedly escalated after Etiko unfollowed Hilbert on social media.
Angered by the accusations, Etiko responded through her lawyers with a ₦100 million petition, demanding that Hilbert retract all defamatory statements made against her on social media. She denied the allegations, calling them false and an attempt to tarnish her reputation.
In reaction, Hilbert filed a fundamental human rights suit at the Federal High Court in Lagos on March 10, 2025, alleging that the police attempted to arrest her at Etiko’s instigation. She described the attempted arrest as illegal and a violation of her constitutional rights, seeking protection from any detention or interrogation related to her Instagram video posted on March 7.
Additionally, Hilbert is demanding ₦100 million in damages for what she termed an unlawful invasion of her rights.
