BREAKING: 10,000 members set to dump APC as Jime finally picks Sam Odeh as running mate
New-Nigeria Reporters can authoritatively report that no fewer than 10, 000 members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Benue State chapter are set to dump the party for a yet-to-be-named political party ahead of the 2019 general elections.
Speaking to New-Nigeria Reporters via telephone call Friday evening, 8 ward chairmen of the party from the three senatorial districts whose names could not be mentioned for security reasons said they have alongside their supporters concluded arrangements to dump the APC over the decision of the party leadership to settle for Sam Ode as the deputy governorship candidate of the party in the forthcoming general elections.
The ward chairmen said the decision of the party leadership to dump Dr. Dickson Akoh for the former Niger Delta Minister, Dr. Sam Ode as Jime’s running mate in the 2019 general elections is a slap on their faces, stressing that Sam Ode is a PDP member who had never called nor participated in any APC meeting in the State until the issue of the deputy governorship slot came to the fore.
“Sam Ode is a staunch PDP member who fought the party in the 2015 general elections as Goodluck Jonathan’s coordinator in Benue State. APC is making another mistake after Ortom’s disgrace just recently. Honestly I will work against the party in the forthcoming general elections”. One angry APC ward chairman told nnrnews.com
The chairmen in their separate interviews said the Benue APC is not serious about winning the State in the 2019 general elections.
One of the APC ward chairmen who said he would rather work for incumbent governor Samuel Ortom of the People’s Democratic Party, PDP, than to work for Sam Ode as Jime’s running mate maintained that the APC leadership has shown that the party would never learn lessons from their past experiences especially after been dumped by the incumbent governor, Samuel Ortom, who rode to power on the party’s platform.
You may recall that the Benue APC has been in quagmire over who becomes the deputy governorship candidate of the party after Barr. Emmanuel Jime emerged the party’s governorship candidate in the forthcoming general elections.
All efforts by New-Nigeria Reporters to reach Dr. Dickson Akoh as the time of filing this report proved abortive as his telephone line was always busy.
