All 13 passengers of Benue Links Transport Company who were kidnapped last week at Eke in Okpokwu Local Government Area have been successfully rescued through a coordinated operation involving the Nigeria Police and local vigilante groups.

The Chairman of Okpokwu LGA, Hon. Adah Inalegwu, confirmed the rescue on Sunday to Channels Television.

He said two of the victims were rescued on Saturday, while sustained pressure from security operatives and local vigilantes forced the kidnappers to abandon the remaining 11 captives at Oando village around 4:00 p.m. on Sunday.

Inalegwu praised the proactive role of Governor Hyacinth Alia, whose provision of logistics, enhanced surveillance, and tracking support played a vital role in the success of the operation.

The rescued victims are currently undergoing profiling before being reunited with their families.
