BREAKING: Abducted Ekiti schoolchildren, teachers freed
The students and teachers of Apostolic Faith Group of Schools in Emure-Ekiti, Ekiti State, who were abducted by armed assailants, have been successfully released.
The circumstances surrounding their release remain uncertain, as it is unclear whether it was a result of a successful intervention by security forces or if a ransom was paid.
The victims, who regained their freedom at approximately 2:00 am on Sunday, are currently the subject of conflicting reports regarding the nature of their release.
IDOMA VOICE could not confirm at this moment whether security operatives played a role or if a ransom was indeed paid to secure their freedom.
Initially, the abductors had demanded a hefty sum of N100 million for the release of the students and teachers.
The failure to meet this demand earlier had sparked concerns, leading to rumors that the kidnappers had issued threats to harm the pupils.
However, a short video clip circulating on Sunday morning provides visual evidence of the liberated pupils and their teachers, visibly fatigued, seated on the floor.
