The kidnappers of Mrs. Abigail Kashimana Orbunde, the wife of former Chief of Staff to ex-Governor Samuel Ortom, Terwase Orbunde, have made a demand for N100 million ransom from the family for her release.
Mr. Orbunde, currently receiving treatment for gunshot wounds at a hospital in Makurdi, recounted that the abductors personally spoke to him around 8:30 am today, both directly and through the captives.
During the conversation, Orbunde mentioned that his wife and cook remained composed throughout the ordeal.
He shared details of the attack, which occurred around 6 pm the previous day, noting that the gunmen conversed in Fulani amongst themselves and communicated with him in Hausa, informing him they would reach out via phone.
The former Chief of Staff disclosed that they instructed him to prepare to send them money, cautioning that failure to comply would result in harm to his wife and cook.
According to reports, the assailants ambushed Mr. Orbunde on Friday while he was supervising work on his farm along the Mobile Barracks-Welfare Quarters Road, between Genocide Cemetery and Angus Memorial College, in Makurdi, the capital of Benue State.
During the attack, Mr. Orbunde sustained a gunshot wound to the forearm, while his wife, Mrs. Abigail Kashimana Orbunde, and cook, Patience Ogute, were abducted and taken to an undisclosed location.
