BREAKING: Abuja-Kaduna train derails, several passengers injured
Several passengers have been injured after an Abuja-bound train derailed en route to Kaduna on Monday following a collision.
The Managing Director of the Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC), Kayode Opeifa, confirmed the incident exclusively to DAILY POST, saying it occurred near Asham.
Opeifa assured that no fatalities were reported and that the injured passengers were promptly evacuated to Idu train station to receive medical attention.
“The Abuja-Kaduna train had an incident at Asham. Passengers sustained injuries, and we are currently investigating to determine the exact cause,” Opeifa said.
NRC officials have launched a full-scale investigation to establish the circumstances surrounding the derailment. Passengers and residents in the area have been advised to follow official updates as the situation develops.
