Super Eagles forward Akor Adams has temporarily exited Nigeria’s camp following the team’s emphatic 4–0 triumph over Mozambique in the round of 16 at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations.

The development was confirmed via a brief statement on the Super Eagles’ official X (formerly Twitter) handle.

According to the update, Adams was excused from camp to attend to a family emergency, as his mother was admitted to the hospital.

The statement said: “Akor Adams has been granted permission to leave camp to go be with his mum, who was hospitalised yesterday. We’re sending prayers and strength to him and wishing his mum a quick recovery.”

Despite learning of the situation ahead of the encounter with the Mambas, the striker featured from the start and capped Nigeria’s dominant display by scoring the fourth goal.

Uncertainty now surrounds his availability for the Super Eagles’ quarter-final showdown on Saturday against either DR Congo or Algeria, as it is unclear if the Sevilla attacker will return to camp in time.
