BREAKING: Akpabio summon emergency Senate meeting ahead of nationwide protest

Senator Godswill Akpabio, the President of the Nigerian Senate, has called for an emergency session of the Senate in anticipation of the nationwide protest scheduled to begin on August 1st and continue through August 10th. According to Naija News, this emergency session will be held on Wednesday, July 31st.

An internal memo from the Senate Clerk has been issued regarding this matter. The memo states:

To: All Distinguished Senators

Subject: Emergency Plenary Sitting

The President of the Senate, His Excellency Senator Godswill Obot Akpabio, GCON, has directed that an emergency plenary session be convened as follows:

Date: Wednesday, July 31st, 2024
Time: 12:00 Noon

Distinguished Senators are requested to make all necessary arrangements to attend, as critical national issues will be addressed.
