BREAKING: Alia approves automation of local government salaries in Benue

The Executive Governor of Benue State, Rev. Fr. Dr. Hyacinth Iormem Alia, has approved the automation of local government council staff salaries. This initiative will be implemented by the agencies responsible for local government administration in the state.

In a statement, Mr. Elijah M. Dogoh, the Covering Permanent Secretary of the Bureau of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, stated that the automation aims to help the government determine the actual financial implications of salary payments in the local government councils.

Directors of General Services and Administration (DGSA) across the 23 local government areas are instructed to inform all affected staff in their councils to appear in person for the exercise. No proxy screenings will be allowed. The affected staff must report for the exercise, which starts at 8 AM in all local government areas, as per the following schedule.

Staff removed from the payroll due to their employment in 2011-2012 are also required to appear for the screening exercise with the necessary documents listed below.

Requirements for Regular Staff on Payroll:

  1. Means of identification (NIN, Voter’s card, Driver’s license)
  2. Letter of first appointment
  3. Birth certificate/declaration of age
  4. Confirmation of appointment
  5. Certificate of local government origin
  6. All promotion letters issued by the commission
  7. All academic and professional qualifications
  8. Bank name
  9. Account number
  10. BVN
  11. Bank statement from April to June 2024

Requirements for Salary Automation (2011 & 2012 Staff Not on Payroll):

  1. Means of identification (NIN, Voter’s card, Driver’s license)
  2. Letter of first appointment
  3. Birth certificate/declaration of age
  4. Confirmation of appointment
  5. Certificate of local government origin
  6. All promotion letters issued by the commission
  7. All academic and professional qualifications
  8. Bank name
  9. Account number
  10. BVN
  11. Bank statement from January 2015 to December 2016

  • Monday and Tuesday, 29-30 July: Okpokwu
  • Wednesday and Thursday, 31 July – 1 August: Ado
  • Friday and Saturday, 2-3 August: Oju
  • Monday and Tuesday, 5-6 August: Obi
  • Wednesday and Thursday, 7-8 August: Otukpo
  • Friday and Saturday, 9-10 August: Gwer West
  • Monday and Tuesday, 12-13 August: Gwer East
