BREAKING: Alia breaks silence on alleged cold war with Akume
Governor Hyacinth Alia of Benue State has addressed rumours of a crisis between him and the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), George Akume.
Governor Alia dismissed the alleged rift and described Akume as his leader.
Addressing newsmen in Government House, Makurdi, the governor attributed the perceived crisis to baseless rumours, asserting that he has no problem with the SGF.
He emphasized that Akume is not only his leader but also holds the position of leader within the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the North Central region.
“I don’t have any crisis with the SGF. He is my leader and the leader of the APC in the State and the Zone. People are creating their perceived crisis where there is no crisis.
“As a State, we made plans to welcome him home but the entire North Central Zone, including the FCT, said they want to be part of it so the plans are on the way,” he said.
It was previously reported that Governor Alia had some disagreements with Akume concerning the appointments of the Chief of Staff and Secretary to the Government of the Federation. However, in his recent statement, Governor Alia clarified that there is no crisis between them and the rumors were unfounded.
Governor Alia further revealed that they had planned to welcome Akume back to the state, but the event evolved into a regional celebration, with the entire North Central Zone and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) wanting to participate.
The Governor assured the public that the planned event is underway, signaling a show of unity and support for SGF George Akume, who remains an important leader within the APC and the region.
