The House of Representative Member for Apa/Agatu Federal Constituency of Benue State, Hon. Samuel Odagboyi Godday, has decamped from Labour Party to the ruling All Progressive Congress (APC).
IDOMA VOICE gathered that the Honourable Member officially pen down his name on the party’s membership register as a member of the Party at a registration exercise held in his home town, Ogbaulu, Agatu Local Government Area.
He promised to hold a decamping ceremony in due course subject to subsequent meetings and consultations with the party stakeholders, while explaining that his decision to hold a low key registration exercise was due to the current security challenges facing his constituency.
Hon. Godday described his decision as an imperative one aimed at consolidating the gains of democracy and attracting further dividends of quality leadership to his constituency which remains a passionate priority for him as a people-oriented leader.
He further noted that, being a member of the majority party in the House has more to offer to his constituency than being on the opposing side as a single-man-minority voice.
The Honourable Member thanked the leadership of his previous political platform, the Labour Party ( at the National, state and constituency levels) for their resilience and commitment towards the progress of our dear nation Nigeria.
He also applauded the members, supporters and sympathisers of Labour Party in Apa and Agatu local Government Areas for believing in his visions and dreams of a workable Apa/Agatu.
The Reps Member however noted that, going by the current events and in the interest of the people he swore the oath to represent, it has become imperative that he makes this difficult but important decision.
Speaking on behalf of the All Progressive Congress (APC), Ogbaulu ward, the ward chairman thanked the Honourable Member for finding the APC as a formidable platform worthy of his choice to foster his political visions.
While welcoming the political leader of the constituency, the party leadership of Ogbaulu ward pledged the support of the party structure at all levels and providing a suitable environment for the Honourable Member to continue his good works across the constituency.
