In a surprising twist, the ongoing leadership turmoil within the Labour Party has undergone a significant development. The Court of Appeal in Owerri, Imo State, has ruled on Thursday to depose Julius Abure from his position and instead officially acknowledge Lamido Apapa as the rightful National Chairman of the Labour Party.

Remarkably, this ruling comes a mere 10 days following the Court of Appeal’s decision in Benin City, Edo State, which upheld Julius Abure’s status as the National Chairman of the Labour Party.

In conjunction with this judgment, the Court has instructed the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to promptly recognize and publicly disclose the names of all gubernatorial candidates nominated by the National Working Committee under the leadership of Lamido Apapa. This directive applies to the states of Imo, Bayelsa, and Kogi.

Furthermore, the Court’s ruling has invalidated the gubernatorial candidacy of Senator Athan Achonu of Imo State, along with other candidates affiliated with the faction led by Julius Abure.

This situation continues to evolve, and further updates are anticipated as events progress.
