BREAKING: Appeal Court nullifies PDP Ibadan convention, fines Turaki-led group
The Court of Appeal sitting in Abuja on Monday affirmed the earlier ruling of the Federal High Court which nullified the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) national convention held in Ibadan, Oyo State, between November 15 and 16, 2025.
The convention, conducted despite pending court orders, had produced the Taminu Turaki-led leadership of the party.
A three-member panel of the appellate court unanimously dismissed the appeals filed by the faction loyal to Mr. Turaki.
The court also ordered the appellants, including Mr. Turaki and members of the party’s National Working Committee (NWC), to pay N2 million in costs.
The judgement represents the first major appellate ruling on the disputed convention, following months of conflicting decisions from Federal High Courts in Abuja and Ibadan.
Meanwhile, parties dissatisfied with the ruling are expected to approach the Supreme Court, whose final decision is likely to determine the authentic leadership of the PDP.
More details later.
