BREAKING: Benue APC governorship aspirant dumps party, joins NNPP

A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress, APC, and governorship aspirant in Benue State, Noah McDickson, has dumped the party for the New Nigeria People’s Party.

IDOMA VOICE gathered that McDickson made the announcement in a statement issued on Thursday.

The Ochagwuba K’Aokkpe, as the politician prides himself, hinged his reason for defecting to the NNPP on the fact that APC has become ‘unrecognisable’.

He described the NNPP as a party that is built on the core values of internal democracy, accountability, inclusion, equity, freedom and social justice.

He, therefore, called on his loyalists and supporters to join the NNPP train.
His statement reads below.

I wish to formally notify my teeming supporters and indeed all Nigerians that I have officially resigned from the All Progressives Congress (APC). This decision is not an easy one for me. It comes after a very long period of soul searching and wide consultation with relevant stakeholders.

I have been a member of the APC since its inception. In all my years as a member of the party, I did everything within my power to be the perfect party man. I devoted my time, energy and resources to advancing the cause of the party and protecting its interests both at the State and National levels. As a dogged grassroot mobiliser and campaign strategist, I contributed immensely to the success of the party in amassing the huge fortunes it has enjoyed since inception. Suffice it to say that I really paid my dues in the APC.

In return for all my labour and sacrifices for the party, it has been one story of disappointment after another, both for me personally and for the mission and vision upon which the party was founded. In the short journey from the party’s formation in 2014 to date, the party I fell in love with and joined has become completely unrecognisable. The basic rules of party administration, designed to ensure peaceful, harmonious co-existence amongst the various members have been blatantly neglected and swept aside.

As a consequence of the foregoing, the party has become a safe haven for the most corrupt elements in our polity whose sole aim is the enthronement of impunity, the sustained rape of democracy, and the mindless plundering of the vast resources of this Nation. It is no surprise that the party has failed woefully in the delivery of its electoral promises to Nigerians. Now, nearly eight years into what promised to be a new order, Nigerians are sadly experiencing the worst times since the civil war: national unity is at its lowest ebb, ethno-religious differences are most pronounced, nepotism is rife, insecurity reigns supreme, and the economy is tethering on the brink of implosion. The party has indeed abysmally failed the country.

In the circumstances, it behoves on self-respecting, patrotic elements like me to redirect our political compass and seek alternative accommodation within the political landscape. Accordingly, I have decided to pitch my political tent with the NEW NIGERIA PEOPLE’S PARTY (NNPP).

The NNPP is a party that is built on the core values of internal democracy, accountability, inclusion, equity, freedom and social justice. It is also a party that is genuinely committed to liberating Nigeria from the debilitative condition the APC has now left it.

Based on its core objectives of upholding and defending the Constitution, deepening the democratic experience, greater security of lives and properties, fostering national unity and cohesion, among others, I am convinced that the NNPP is the party of choice for all Nigerians going forward.
Achieving the foregoing objectives through collaboration with other like minds in the NNPP is the task I have committed myself to and I have no doubt that in the NNPP I will be afforded the opportunity to play a significant part in the process.

On this note, I call on all my loyalists and supporters to join me in embracing the NNPP as we strive to launch Nigeria into a new era of all-round positive national growth. With your continued unalloyed support, any and everything is possible.
