IDOMA VOICE reports Kanu had on Friday said the decision became imperative following the worsening security situation in the state.

Kanu said if the killing continues, he would have no choice than too deploy operatives of Eastern Security Network, ESN, to the state.

“Benue State Governor Samuel Ortom must take responsibility for securing these communities or IPOB would move in our gallant Eastern Security Network, ESN operatives to do the needful,” he had said in a statement by his spokesman, Emma Powerful.

Reacting, however, Defenders of Benue Valley Frontiers described Kanu and his group as hungry jokers who are only looking for relevance.

The group in a statement signed by its President Shedrack Shima and Secretary, Otse Solomon, warned Kanu and his group to steer clear of Benue State.

The group said, “We want to inform Nnamdi Kanu that Benue State is a no-go area for him and his hungry jokers who are only looking for relevance on the pages of newspapers and social media.

“We can lead and defend our territory. Benue State is in safe hands and as such, Kanu and his team are not welcome because the outcome may not be palatable.

“We are ready to defend our land against any intruder who may want to make our land ungovernable.
“We call on leadership of Ohaneze Ndigbo to quickly call Kanu and his supporters to order. This war drum he’s beating may consume him.

“We call on the Nigeria Police and all security agencies to hold Kanu responsible if violence breaks out in Benue.”
