BREAKING: Biafra: IPOB suspends sit-at-home order

Ahead of the sit-at-home order given by the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) tomorrow Monday, there is now an atmosphere of confusion in the Biafra group.

This is as report emerged on Sunday that the group has suspended the sit-at-home protest scheduled for tomorrow, Monday, August 7.

IPOB was quoted to have explained that they took the decision due to the National Examination Council, NECO, examination for junior secondary schools.

The secessionist group noted that a new date for the protest would be communicated later.

A statement on Sunday signed by Nnamdi Kanu’s younger brother, Kanunta Kanu, claimed they listed to pleas from individuals and groups that the order be suspended to allow students in Igbo land to participate in the NECO examination.

“IPOB has listened to pleas from well-meaning individuals and groups within and outside Biafra land that we consider the fate of our children who will be involved in the NECO Exam and based on that, we decided to shift grounds over the sit-at-home order,” it read in part.

However, when DAILY POST reached out to IPOB’s spokeman, Emma Powerful, he said Kanunta’s counter order should be ignored.

“The statement I issued earlier today stands, there is no going back on the sit-at-home order tomorrow. I am the IPOB spokesman, Kanunta speaks for their family,” Powerful told DAILY POST.

IPOB declared the sit-at-home in solidarity with its detained leader, Nnamdi Kanu.

The protest was to be observed every Monday throughout Igbo land, starting from August 9, until their leader is released.
