A bill to rename Benue State University (BSU), Makurdi, to Moses Orshio Adasu University has passed its first reading at the Benue State House of Assembly.
The acting Clerk of the House, John Hwande, presented the bill during Wednesday’s plenary session.
In addition, a bill proposing the establishment of the Benue State University of Agriculture, Science, and Technology in Ihugh, Vandeikya Local Government Area, also passed its first reading.
Other bills introduced include an amendment to the law on free and compulsory basic education and a proposal to establish a task force on quality healthcare and quackery prevention in the state.
Two of the bills were submitted by the Majority Leader, Saater Tiseer, while the others were presented by Mrs. Becky Orpin, representing Gboko East constituency, and Mr. Thomas Dugeri, representing Kwande West.
Speaker Aondona Dajoh, who presided over the plenary, referred the bills to the House Standing Committee on Rules and Business for further legislative review.
